Indian hemp which occupied 16.8 hectares of farm In Osun State have been destroyed by NDLEA



The Osun State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA announced announced on Wednesday that 16.8 hectares of Indian hemp (Cannabis Sativa) farm located in Ikoyi community in the state had been destroyed. Samuel Egbeola, the head of the agency in the state made this known while speaking with newsmen. He revealed that the farm was destroyed on September 26, 2017 following a tip-off by an intelligence source.

Kaduna state resident doctors begin strike over poor state of facilities



Residents doctors in Kaduna State have began an indefinite strike on Tuesday over “sorry state” of healthcare facilities in state government hospitals.
Dr. Joseph Jokshan, President, Association of Resident Doctors in the state, said at a press briefing Monday night in Kaduna that the state government had not responded to any of the doctors’ demands issued 21 days ago.
He said that the doctors were pained to begin the strike, but “unfortunately, we cannot effectively carry out these tasks in the current sorry state of our healthcare facilities.”

Woman's Leg Swells Uncontrollably Due To Deadly Disease [photos]



A woman is currently battling with her life due to her leg swelling to enormous proportions in a potentially-deadly condition. Rezia Begum's, 40, right leg weighs around 60kg due to suspected The woman Rezia Begum's, 40, right leg currently weighs around 60kg due to suspected elephantiasis.
Begum, who is a mum of two from Bangladesh, has suffered from the condition since giving birth to her second daughter 18 years ago.
'I was like any other normal woman but now I'm a burden on my poor family.'
Although she is being cared for at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in Bangladesh, she is yet to begin treatment.
The cause of Begum's condition is unclear, however, previous reports of other cases revealed the disorder can be caused by roundworms entering the body via mosquitoes.
If the swelling spreads from the legs to the abdomen, the condition can be fatal.

Orphans get N10.3m for cows to celebrate Sallah



The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission has distributed N10.3 million to 86 District Heads to buy cows for orphans during the Eid-el-kabir celebrations coming up next weekend.
Malam Lawal Maidoki, its Chairman, in a brief speech shortly before disbursing the money, stated that the gesture was part of government’s effort to ease the suffering of the orphans and the needy.
Maidoki said that the financial constrains facing the nation had not stopped government from executing its good intentions toward a better life for the poor and vulnerable in the society.

Another Doctor Tests Positive To Lassa Fever In LUTH



Chief Medical Director, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi Araba, Prof Chris Bode said, revealed yesterday, that another doctor had tested positive to Lassa fever.

Lightning Kills 21 In India




21 people have reportedly been struck dead by lightning in eastern India. The lightning struck several part of the country killing 18 in Odisha state, and another three died in Jharkhand state.
10 people were also injured by the widespread bolts as storms erupted over rice paddies, as it is reported that most victims of the lightning were farmers working on their farms.
But in Jharkhand, two brothers in Kharswan district were killed when the lightning penetrated the thatched roof of their house. In the western state of Gujarat, 213 people have been killed in weeks of flooding, state disaster management officials said, almost doubling the death toll after about 100 bodies were found when water started receding. Suresh Kumar, West Bengal’s top disaster management official, said 31 deaths were reported in a week of flooding in the state. “Heavy rains have caused massive damage in several districts,” Kumar told AFP.
