Kaduna State Government ready to employ 25,000 teachers


Gov. Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State says the state will employ 25,000 primary school teachers as parts of efforts to restore dignity and quality to its education sector.

The governor, who stated this when he received a World Bank delegation in his office in Kaduna on Monday said this would also entrench equity in the distribution of teachers across the state.

He explained that the recruitment had became necessary due to the acute shortage of qualified primary school teachers in the state.

Indian hemp which occupied 16.8 hectares of farm In Osun State have been destroyed by NDLEA



The Osun State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA announced announced on Wednesday that 16.8 hectares of Indian hemp (Cannabis Sativa) farm located in Ikoyi community in the state had been destroyed. Samuel Egbeola, the head of the agency in the state made this known while speaking with newsmen. He revealed that the farm was destroyed on September 26, 2017 following a tip-off by an intelligence source.

Those people following him have entered into a one-chance vehicle - Nigerian Army



Head Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, has made it known during a press round that everyone supporting IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, were in a “one-chance vehicle.”
In his words:

“There was an allegation that somebody (Kanu) went into hiding. Now, I can’t remember the day but in an interview on Channels TV, one of Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brothers said that he was in hiding and he knew where he was.

“And one lawyer came up that he has taken the Chief of Army Staff to court. Now, who gave you the brief? You said you do not know where he (Kanu) is. Now, who gave you the brief? And the media is asking us where is Nnamdi Kanu? Why not ask the man that said so who gave him the brief to take people to court when he does not know where the man is?

Charly Boy files N500m lawsuit against NPF over alleged harassment


Charly Boy has filed N500m lawsuit against the Nigerian Police over the alleged harassment he faced with other protesters during his 'Resume or Resign' protest on the 8th of August in Abuja.

Recall that the Area father slumped during the protest at the Unity Fountain following the effects of tear gas canister and water cannons used on the protesters by the Police, but the authorities described the musician as being overdramatic when he slumped.
In the lawsuit filed against the FCT Police Command at the FCT High Court in Maitama on Wednesday, Charly Boy is seeking  “an order compelling the Police to publish a public apology to him in five National Newspapers, and the payment of the sum of N500m as general damages.

Magu receives threat from Ekiti State House of Assembly Over Arrest Of Finance Commissioner, AG



The Ekiti State House of Assembly has threatened to sue the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu over the arrest and detention of the State Commissioner for Finance, Toyin Ojo and the Accountant General, Yemi Owolabi.
The House of Assembly, in its letter dated October 2, 2017 and signed by the Speaker, Kolawole Oluwawole, which was delivered at the EFCC’s Abuja office Tuesday, read;

“The court granted an Order of Interim Injunction restraining the 1st and 2nd defendants (EFCC and the Inspector General of Police, their agents, privies or any other investigative agencies, however described) from arresting, detaining or investigating any person or persons, whether past or present officials in the Ekiti State Government, without any report of indictment from the Ekiti State House of Assembly pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice filed in this suit.

Fan Ask Patoranking The Amount Of Rat Poison To Be Used To Kill Rats In Buhari’s office


Nigerian singer "Patoranking" had before disclosed that he sold rat poison in Lagos, before he became a superstar musician.

His fan and Twitter user @Eonyeche, who knew all this, has taken to the platform to ask him ‘the amount that can be assigned to chase rats from Aso Rock, as a past professional rat poison seller.

JUST IN: Nigerian govt asks court to revoke Nnamdi Kanu’s bail




The Nigerian government has asked the court to revoke the bail granted leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
According to a statement by the office of the Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, on Friday, the Nigerian government also asked the court to order the arrest and detention of Mr. Kanu, pending the determination of the charge against him.
The statement which was signed by special assistant to Mr. Malami, Salihu Isah, cited disobedience of court orders, among other issues as grounds for the appeal.
Mr. Kanu, who is facing trial for alleged treason, was granted bail in April by an Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on health grounds.

President Buhari has again come under major attack and this time from Catholic Bishops in the Kaduna Ecclesiastical Province.
The President was slammed over the state of the country’s economy as it was stated that his ongoing reign as the country's head is yet to help the plight of the people.
The bishops said,
“We are saddened by the fact that after over two years, there are still no measurable changes in the welfare of our people. The recession has not abated, the lives of ordinary people continue to hang in a balance as insecurity ravages the land.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says he has dropped Matthew from his names even though it was given to him by his parents.
Speaking at an event which the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) organised in his honour, Obasanjo explained that he jettisoned the name because the Biblical character, Mathew, whom he was named after, was a tax collector. 

FG to stop production of Nigerian movies, music, abroad.


The FG says it has taken steps to amend the Nigeria Broadcasting Code to discourage the production of Nigerian movies and music outside the shore of the country.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made this known on Saturday in Lagos. The Minister decried the situation whereby films, reality TV shows and music, were made outside Nigeria, for consumption by Nigerians.

Missing N11bn petroleum products: Ubah says NNPC owes Capital Oil N16bn, alleges witch-hunt


Chairman of Capital Oil, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah,  yesterday  denied claims that he is indebted to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to the tune of N11billion, alleging that instead, the national oil corporation is owing him N16 billion.
The visibly disturbed Ubah made this revelation yesterday while testifying in the on going public investigation by the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum  Resources(Downstream) into the alleged disappearance of 82 million metric liters of petrol belonging to the NNPC that was stored at the Capital Oil tank farm in Lagos. The oil magnate informed the committee that the NNPC blew the entire incident out of proportion, adding however that claims and counter claims by both parties are now the subject of litigation and investigation by relevant security and anti-graft agencies.

The sudden U-turn by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to halt action on efforts by voters in Kogi West to recall Senator Dino Melaye came as a result of the Senate’s decision to probe the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). After a meeting earlier today, INEC decided to freeze the recall effort, citing legal complications.

JAMB begins sale of Direct Entry forms; yet to determine 2017 admission cut-off marks


The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Tuesday, said it had not determined the cut off marks for 2017 admission into various courses in tertiary institutions. 
JAMB candidates It explained that such decision which was only taken at a policy committee meeting with all stakeholders, chaired by the Minister of Education was yet to hold.
