The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the immediate shutdown of Hospital Road, at Midim, in Abak LGA for urgent intervention and rehabilitation.
Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen gave the order when he paid an unscheduled visit to inspect the road which has collapsed to the pressures of a devastating gully erosion by the Obot Street intersection.
Inyang-Eyen blamed the collapse on poor drainage system and disclosed that construction workers will be mobilized to the site to commence emergency remedy work.
